As a Calgary photographer who specializes in families, I have to say that I love this city! There are so many amazing locations for photographing people and children in a great natural setting. These locations are perfect fro kids because they are free to just be themselves, there is so much to see and do! But I have to admit, as much as I love an amazing location for our photos, it is really only the background. What really matters is what is happening in the frame.

My photography is all about connection and genuine emotion and authentic feelings. In every image we create together this is what I am looking for. I am not looking for everyone smiling looking at the camera. I am not watching to see that everyone is sitting with their hands flat and not moving. I embrace movement. Who ever saw a child sit still and genuinely love what they are doing. Let’s get them moving. Movement is a great way to get both kids and parents to forget about what is happening, that there is someone there to take their picture. It really helps to make the whole session relaxed and fun. A session to remember.

These images here are some of my favourites from this session. I love that everyone in this adorable family is engaged and loves to be together. The looks on their faces as the interact and play with each other is what I want them to remember. When they look back at these images decades from now they will see how much fun they had together. They will see the happiness and joy that they brought to each other.
