A first birthday photo session is one of my favourite things. Photographing children in Calgary over the past several years has given me the opportunity to celebrate these little people growing into amazing little humans. By their first birthday their personality is really starting to emerge and this little guy was no different. At one year old, you wear all of your thoughts and emotions right on your face for all to see. There is no wondering what these kids are thinking. As a photographer I look at is as my duty to capture these expressions and little facial movements so parents can have a record of all that their little one was. I was so lucky that this kiddo took no time to warm up to me. There was no shyness or making strange. It makes me so happy when kids will just crawl right into my lap and enjoy the same view I have. These first birthday sessions move fast. We follow around a toddler letting him run the show. They are fun and exciting and full of laughs. And when the little one is done, they are over. As they keep nothing hidden, to spare anyone’s feelings, they will let you know when they have had enough. It was so much fun meeting up with this little one for his photo session, after seeing him as a newborn and again at his 6 month session it is always so much fun to catch up with him and his family. I will share more of those images a little later, but for now we have just the star of the show.
