I have spent the last two weeks with my amazing little family. We had some great adventures and tried its of things we have never done before.  I will share some of those in the coming weeks. This years vacation was a couple weeks of camping. A couple weeks of camp fires, hikes, bikes, s’mores, dirt, messy faces, gaining independence, getting stronger and pushing themselves. The first little bit was just us. Our little family of six headed out for some amazing fun. There is much to be said for the ages my kids are at. From four to nine, we feel like we are in the kids sweet spot. No naps, no diapers, everyone is pretty self sufficient, all kids ride on two wheels and they can all hold their own when skating and skiing. On the flip side, they still really like being with us. We have a blast as a family and everyone wants to be together. There is no angst, and very little eye rolling and we all can encourage each other. We feel that if we can make this time with them as much fun as possible then hopefully they will continue to choose to be with us as they enter the mysterious teenage years.

The second part of our vacation was spent with some of our dearest friends. When we get together things just work, the kids play so well together. even Eli, 9 and Hudson 2 seem to be the best of friends. Because we work together so well it is a vacation for everyone. We all watch each others kids, cook together, work together and play together and none of it seems like work. Our entire family looks forward to this vacation and this was our seventh year in a row getting our families together and as we leave with tears from the back seat we can’t wait until next year.
